Salesforce for Manufacturing Implementation Services
A manufacturing Salesforce implementation should fit your business, not the other way around. We build ours senior-led, so it works the way your plants and partners actually operate.
What Makes Manufacturing Salesforce Implementations Different
We’re not solving a generic Salesforce project here, we’re solving yours. Manufacturing brings three problems most projects never touch, an ERP system already in place, more than one plant to account for, and a distributor network that needs its own way in. Here’s how we handle each one.
ERP Integration
Most manufacturers run Salesforce alongside an ERP system that already owns production, inventory, and order data. We work out what belongs in Salesforce, what stays in the ERP, and how the two stay in sync without creating two versions of the truth.
Multi-Plant & Multi-Business-Unit Complexity
Manufacturers running more than one plant face an early decision, one Salesforce org or several connected ones. That choice affects reporting, scalability, and governance, and it’s far cheaper to get right before development begins than to unwind after.
Dealer & Distributor Type
Manufacturers selling through partners, reps, or distributors often have deal and forecast data buried in spreadsheets and email threads. A Salesforce partner portal fixes that, but only in the hands of a partner who understands indirect manufacturing sales.
Our Salesforce Implementation Methodology
TruSummit’s methodology runs through three phases: discovery, build, and enablement. We call them Trail Mapping, Climb, and The Summit, our proven process for turning complexity into clarity.
TruSummit Trail Mapping
Mobilization & Discovery
Discovery is where the major decisions get made before development begins. We work with your stakeholders to map ERP and system boundaries, determine Salesforce org strategy, identify dealer or distributor portal requirements, co-create business requirements and priorities, and align the solution with your broader business goals. The phase ends with a high-level solution design, so everyone agrees on what’s being built before development starts.
TruSummit Climb
Build, Measure, Iterate
During build, the Salesforce environment and required integrations are configured and tested in agile cycles, with a dedicated TruSummit project manager as your primary point of contact throughout. If the implementation includes a dealer or distributor portal, partners review early versions and give feedback before the workflow is finalized.
The Summit
Enable, Train & Scale
Enablement prepares each user group for the parts of Salesforce they’ll actually use. Training may include internal teams, plant users, business units, and distributor partners. We also establish the governance needed to support Salesforce after launch, covering backlog ownership, communication processes, development and QA standards, data ownership, and ongoing platform decision-making. That foundation makes it easier to manage future changes, automation, and AI initiatives without rebuilding the system every time the business evolves.
How Long Does a Manufacturing Salesforce Implementation Take?
A manufacturing Salesforce implementation typically takes 15 to 30 weeks total, depending on plant count, ERP complexity, and distributor network scope.
- Discovery (Trail Mapping): 2–4 weeks, including ERP and data planning
- Build (Climb): 8–16 weeks, including build and testing
- Training & Enablement (The Summit): 2–4 weeks, running in parallel with final build
- Go-Live & Governance Handoff: occurs at the end of implementation, with ongoing managed support available afterward
These ranges are illustrative. Multi-plant or complex distributor integrations typically land at the higher end.
Who You'll Work With
Every manufacturing implementation is senior-led, with a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact from discovery through go-live.
- A dedicated Senior Project Manager: your primary point of contact for the life of the project
- A Senior Solution Architect: owns the technical design and how Salesforce fits into your broader systems
- Senior Business Analysts: run discovery and translate your requirements into build specs
- Senior Developers/Admins: build and configure the platform
- A Change Management lead: owns training and adoption from kickoff through the weeks after go-live

Common Manufacturing Implementation Pitfalls
What happens if we delay the org strategy decision?
Waiting until mid-project to choose one Salesforce org versus several across business units causes expensive rework. Align leadership on this decision before discovery starts.
What if we migrate our existing data as-is?
Messy, duplicated, or outdated data carries the same problems into a cleaner-looking interface. Assign an internal data owner to start cleanup early.
What if IT designs the system without input from other teams?
Implementations built entirely by IT, without input from sales, service, or plant operations, tend to see lower adoption after go-live. Identify those representatives before discovery begins.
What if governance gets addressed after launch?
Governance planned after launch becomes a cleanup project instead of a foundation.
What Happens After Go-Live?
Salesforce needs ongoing governance and support after go-live to keep delivering value as your business changes. Our Managed Services team picks up where implementation ends, so you’re not left managing the platform alone.
