Win the Shelf and Keep the Customer: Salesforce Solutions for Consumer Goods

Get sales, service, and marketing onto Salesforce, connect it to your ERP, and make sure your teams actually use it.

The problem

One Customer, Too Many Versions

Consumer goods companies sell through more doors than most: their own stores, distributors, big-box retailers, and online. Each channel picks up its own system, and soon sales, service, and marketing are each working from a different version of the customer.

We bring those teams onto Salesforce, connect it to the ERP that runs your business, and train your teams to use it. Senior consultants do the work from the first workshop through go-live.

Where it goes wrong

Understanding the Consumer Goods Landscape

Margins in consumer goods are thin, and they’re often won or lost in places headquarters can’t see. Retail buyers expect more from every sales call, and shoppers expect a brand to know them whether they bought online, at a dealer, or off the shelf at a home center.

  • 01

The store visit that never happened

Without visit plans and check-ins, a manager finds out about a missed store when the reorder doesn’t come in.

  • 02

The distributor order keyed in twice

When Salesforce and the ERP don’t talk, someone retypes orders, prices, and product data, and errors follow.

  • 03

The complaint nobody traced to the batch

Product issues sit in inboxes instead of cases, so the same defect turns up again next season.

What we do

Where We Help Consumer Goods Teams

  • Retail Execution and Field Sales

Know what happened on every store visit. Reps get visit plans and action plan templates on their phones, and Salesforce Maps cuts their drive time.

    • Consumer Goods Cloud
    • Salesforce Maps
  • Retailer and Distributor Accounts

Every rep and manager sees the accounts they own (key accounts, distributors, dealers, or your own stores), with territories that match how you go to market.

    • Sales Cloud
    • Enterprise Territory Management
  • Customer Service and Product Quality

Catch quality problems before they repeat. Order questions, warranty claims, and complaints become cases you can trace back to a root cause.

    • Service Cloud
  • Marketing and Customer Data

Reach the right consumer, pro, or retail buyer instead of the whole list, using web forms, sample requests, email, and purchase history in one place.

    • Marketing Cloud Next
    • Data 360
  • ERP and System Integration

Stop rekeying orders. Salesforce stays in sync with SAP or the ERP you run, so prices, orders, and product data match everywhere.

    • MuleSoft
    • Your integration platform
  • Trade Promotion and Account Planning

Get your data ready before you invest in the tools. We’ll help you decide when trade promotion management and customer business planning are worth turning on.

How we work

From First Workshop to Go-Live

  1. Discovery and Design

We map how you sell, serve, and market today, and agree on what Salesforce needs to do before anything gets built.

  2. Build

Senior consultants configure Sales, Service, Marketing, and Consumer Goods Cloud, and review working pieces with your team as they go.

  3. Data and Integration

We move your customer data and connect Salesforce to your ERP, master data, and the other systems your teams rely on.

  4. Training and Go-Live

Training, testing, and launch support, so reps, service agents, and marketers are ready the day it goes live.

Why TruSummit

What Working with TruSummit Looks Like

  • Senior People on Your Project

The consultants who scope your project are the ones who build it. No handoff to a junior team once the contract is signed.

  • Adoption in the Plan

Training, change management, and go-live support are part of the schedule from the start, not an add-on at the end. A system your reps don’t use won’t help anyone.

  • Advice That Fits Your Size

You may not need every Consumer Goods Cloud feature right away. We’ll tell you what to turn on now, what can wait, and what you can skip.

FAQ

Questions Consumer Goods Teams Ask Us

Have a question that isn’t here? Talk to a Senior Consultant.

Do we need Consumer Goods Cloud, or is Sales Cloud enough?

Sales Cloud handles accounts, opportunities, and forecasting well. Consumer Goods Cloud adds what field teams need in stores: visit planning, action plans, and an offline mobile app, plus trade promotion management and customer business planning. If your reps don’t visit stores and you don’t run trade promotions, Sales Cloud may be all you need. We’ll tell you which fits before you commit to licenses.

Can Salesforce connect to SAP?

Yes. For Pittsburgh Paints Company we connected Salesforce to SAP ECC, master data, HR and territory systems, and more: 10 integrations in all. We work with MuleSoft or the integration platform you already use.

How long does a consumer goods Salesforce project take?

Scope drives the timeline, so we give you a realistic plan after discovery. For reference, Pittsburgh Paints Company went from discovery to go-live in under eight months with more than 2,000 users.

Can you fix a Salesforce setup that isn’t working?

Yes. Our Rescue & Rejuvenation work starts with a review of your current Salesforce org, then a plan to fix what’s slowing your teams down, whether that’s data, integrations, or adoption.
